DUCKS DEFENSE TOO MUCH FOR CERRONE; WIN IBL CHAMPIONSHIP
The
Blue Ducks, proud members of the LGIBL, defeated Team Cerrone on Thursday by a score of 28-19 to win the championship game.
The Ducks, who now have an accumulated record of 2-2 against Team Cerrone, won their first championship in their 4 years of
existance. The Ducks made it to the finals during the 2004-2005 season, however they were defeated by the Monstarz by 1 point.
Today, they were lead by Robert Bondy, who scored 12 points.
"Words
can't even describe what I'm feeling right now. This is what we've worked for the past 4 seasons, and we finally got it.
It's incredble," Bondy told us.
Team Cerrone had a tough time solving
the Ducks' defense, scoring nearly half the points they had last game.
"We
changed some things up. We played tenacious D," Spencer Knox told us with a chuckle. "Actually, we didn't run our traditional
zone, and it definently threw them off."
Scoring for the Ducks was
spread out among 5 players. Team captain Sean Jarett added 7, while Mike Carrol Sherwin, Matt Kruczlnicki, and Paul Sullivan
added 4, 3, and 2 points, respectively.
This last game marks the
end of the careers of 7 players on the Blue Ducks in the IBL. They all include seniors Matt Kloepfer, Matt Kruczlnicki, Sean
Jarett, Rob Bondy, Spencer Knox, Paul Sullivan, and Adam Pensel.
Thank
you fans for you continuous support over the past 4 years.
